Wedding Photography at Maidens Barn

It was fantastic to be back at Maidens Barn for Sam and Steve’s wedding. The venue in Essex has a certain magic about it, the rustic charm of the converted barn, nestled amidst rolling countryside, provides a perfect backdrop for any wedding. And let me tell you, Sam and Steve’s special day was nothing short of a fairytale. Wedding Photography at Maidens Barn is always a pleasure, you are never short of photo opportunities to suit whatever my couples would like.

Essex wedding photographer

As an Essex wedding photographer, I get to witness a lot of love, but the energy radiating from Sam and Steve was truly infectious. The morning buzzed with excitement as Sam and her bridesmaids got ready in the beautiful bridal suite at Maidens Barn which is spacious and very light and airy. Capturing the anticipation, the nervous laughter, and the joy of shared champagne flutes was a heartwarming way to begin the day. Sam had told me that a reveal shot with her dad was very important to her so I made sure she was in good light, the dress fluffed out so everything was set for her dad to come in so I could photograph the moment as it naturally unfolded.

Steve and the Boys were also getting ready at Maidens Barn, so I broke away to spend a bit of time capturing there morning prep, looking very dapper in their suits I was able to photograph nice natural window light photographs as well and some lovely details. With Wedding Photography at Maidens Barn as there are lots of rooms it allows for the groom to also get ready onsite so photographing both parties is that little bit easier.

Embrace the weather

The weather on the day wasn’t the best but we didn’t let it stop anything from happening and certainly didn’t let it stop the photos. In the UK the weather can be a bit of a gamble and this year I have certainly had a few wet weddings, you really can’t let it worry you, my advice is embrace the conditions you have and if you have rain have photographs in it.

The grounds at Maidens Barn are stunning, there are so many little gems all over the place which makes it a dream for wedding photography. We ventured outside for some portrait shots, utilizing the lush greenery and the quaint bridge that adds a touch of whimsy to the venue.

Natural light reception

The reception took place in the barn which is flooded with natural light allowing me to photograph the speeches without any additional lighting. The speeches were filled with laughter and tears, toasts clinked, and guests danced the night away. Capturing these candid moments of pure celebration is what I love most about wedding photography. It’s the raw emotion, the unbridled joy, and the stories that unfold throughout the evening.

Make the most of the evening whatever the weather

Sam and Steve were up for nipping out in the evening for a few more photographs, the weather was quite drizzly, but it did make for a dramatic sky, so I knew there was some great photo opportunities available. We utilized the long-raised area adjacent to the car park so I could get down low and include as much of the dramatic sky as possible.

A massive Congratulations to Sam and Steve

Sam and Steve’s Maidens Barn wedding was a photographer’s dream. Congratulations once again to the happy couple and thank you for letting me be a part of capturing your beautiful story.
