I have actually known David for several years so when he and Rachel asked me to be their Apton Hall wedding photographer I was absolutely delighted. Apton Hall is a stunning wedding venue offering beautiful buildings as well as no shortage of gardens and countryside. I had actually already provided the couple with a photography session last year as they wanted some nice photographs to hang on the walls of their new home, Rachel was unaware at the time that David was planning to propose on a holiday in New York the following month. As you can never have too many photographs we visited Apon Hall in September to capture some engagement images and plan some of their wedding photographs.

What Is an Engagement Shoot?

Engagement shoots are a great way to have a little practice run at being photographed ahead of your wedding. I use them as an opportunity to not only get some great images but also to take the time to explain to my couples how to get the best from their wedding images. We run through how some small tweaks to posture, hand placement and how you stand can make the world of difference to your wedding photography.

One thing I hear a lot when photographing a wedding from guests is “I want you to make me look amazing”. Well, the key is giving some direction, often a few small tweaks can transform a photograph from a nice image to award-winning wedding photography.
