Why is becoming a master photographer so important?

Many couples often say to me with so much choice, it’s really difficult to know what to do when it comes to wedding suppliers and photographers are no exception. It’s easy to say you can capture memories and wow factor images but how do you really know your photographer will be able to create the magic you expect on your special day?

I decided to have my work professionally judged and am really pleased to say I have an achieved master photographer status with the Master Photographers Association (MPA). Unfortunately, the wedding photography industry has become saturated with have amateur wedding photographers who in most cases are uninsured, using non-professional equipment and without the key skills to photograph a wedding. Many use portfolio building courses to obtain their website images where every aspect of the image has been set up and the couple are actually models who know exactly how to pose for photographs.

I found the level of poor quality photography very frustrating as it devalues a profession I am immensely proud to be part of. This is just one of the reason I decided to work towards becoming a recognised master photographer and achieving an internationally recognised qualification.

So what does it mean for my couples?

It means that my images meet the standards of a master wedding photographer and my business has been certified to the MPA standards, this ensures that I have all the relevant insurances and work to good business practices.

Why is this important?

I wanted to be able to offer my couples more than just saying I will provide them with fantastic wedding photography, I wanted to prove it by having my work judged by the UK’s top photographers. Putting yourself out there to be judged is quite a daunting thing to do but I believe its essential to make sure I stay at the top of my game.

Every photograph you see on my website is from a real wedding taken by me so you can be assured they are a true reflection of how your wedding photography will be. You can check out some of my wedding images in the gallery by clicking here.
