Louise and Pete’s wedding at Colville Hall

It was a pleasure to be Louise and Pete’s wedding photographer at the amazing Colville Hall. We had rain, sunshine, a bit more rain, and the most amazing sunset.

Having met Louise and Pete at the venue before their wedding, I knew how amazing Colville Hall would be.  There was no shortage of fantastic opportunities that awaited. Photographing weddings, especially at locations like Colville Hall really is the best job in the world.

It was very clear that this venue has the wow factor, I found photo opportunities everywhere I turned.

Colville Hall wedding venue

Colville Hall lies within the remains of an ancient moated site which contains thatched barns and traditional farm buildings. These buildings provide an ideal backdrop for a romantic wedding.

We don’t let a bit of rain stop us

I had a few ideas of some shots that would look really good and we were able to get several of them. One, in particular, was a shot of the couple by the brick pillar entrance. To make the best out of a short spell of rain we captured this with the couple under a large umbrella.

Photo opportunities

After a little bit of late afternoon rain, we were treated to an amazing sunset, which we had to take advantage of. I ran the idea of a sunset shot to the couple. This image worked really well and again you can see an example below.

One of the advantages of meeting at a venue beforehand is that it enables me to plan ahead and discuss the opportunities with the couple which makes capturing the images on the day very efficient.
