Leah and Scott’s Winter Wedding at Wivenhoe House Hotel
It’s always nice to photograph a winter wedding and there is no better time than at Christmas. Leah and Scott did a fantastic job of organising their wedding at Wivenhoe House Hotel and did all the planning while out of the country living in Canada.
I arrived in the morning to capture the bridal preparation shots. As Scott was also getting ready at Wivenhoe House, it made it easy to nip down and get some shots of the guys getting ready too.
It was a freezing cold day but fortunately, it didn’t rain so we were able to get outside for several of the shots, while working efficiently to get everyone back in the warm as soon as possible. Following the group shots, after a quick warm-up we braved the cold to capture some couple portraits against some of the lovely backdrops at Wivenhoe House making the most of the light that was still available.
Later in the day before the cutting of the cake we got back out for some evening portraits incorporating some of the lights around the building and coloured smoke.
I would highly recommend Wivenhoe House Hotel if you are looking for an Essex wedding venue, it has a real charm and full of scenic places for wedding photography.

Below is a very nice testimonial I received from Leah and Scott.
“James photographed our wedding in December 2017 at Wivenhoe House Hotel. We live abroad and were not able to visit our venue or meet James prior to the day but we spoke on the phone and he talked us through his experience and how the day would run, and even went to see the venue himself. On the day he and Lucy were very professional, blending in with the celebrations and taking lots of natural shots as we had requested, plus some more formal couple and family photos. He had lots of good ideas for photo locations around the venue and had the idea to use smoke bombs to capture some really unique photos in the dark outside. We received the full set of photos within three weeks and were thrilled with how they came out. We would highly recommend James for his skill, professionalism, and creativity”.
