Ash and Sam’s Villiers Barn Wedding

Since Villiers Barn recently opened up as a wedding venue I have wanted to photograph at this beautiful Essex wedding venue. I had seen pictures of the venue and it had been the topic of discussion with other wedding suppliers so it was great to go there and see for myself just how great it is. Before I even got out of the car I could see that we were in for some stunning wedding photography.

The day started with bridal preparations in the spacious bridal suite, which was filled with natural light from the spacious windows offering perfect conditions for some creative wedding photography. Having allowed plenty of time I was able to break off and also photograph the boys arriving, Ash had decided to wear his Police tunic, which Sam was unaware of so this created some great photo opportunities. I know from experience hair and makeup artists love lots of quality window light as do photographers so Villiers Barn takes care of that requirement perfectly.

Villiers Barn has a very large ceremony room which again was full of natural light which is perfect from a photography point of view, having space around the outside of the seating areas allows me to discreetly move around during the ceremony to capture multiple viewpoints and angles. The great thing about this is it means more interesting photos and more emotions captured for the couple.

Getting You Great Wedding Photographs

Getting great photographs on your wedding day requires several things, great light or having a photographer who knows how to get the best out of the lighting conditions on the day, being relaxed, and having great backdrops. When it comes to backdrops Villiers Barn does not disappoint, as well as the barn and the beautiful buildings it also boasts a scenic lake with a lovely old bridge which just cries out to be used in the photographs.

Off Camera Creative Flash Photography

Many couples ask me to provide them with some night photographs, these make a great addition to your album and allow for some creative off-camera flash setups. I am very aware of how fast a wedding day goes and making sure I don’t keep you from your guests for too long is always at the forefront of my mind. I usually finish the night off by nipping outside to set up a few night shots. I invite the couple out for a few minutes to capture these and before they know it they are back on the dance floor partying the rest of the night away and have the bonus of some amazing wall art too!
